Israel's 3DM Looks To Accelerate Industrial 3D Printing With New Laser Technology

Israeli company 3DM is a specialist in industrial polymer laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) and will soon start commercializing its technology. The company has developed a new type of 3D printing laser, specifically the Quantum Cascade Laser (QCL), which can be tuned for different wavelengths. This allows a wider range of thermoplastic materials to be processed while improving print quality and speed and reducing costs.

3DM was founded by Daniel Majer, an expert in laser and semiconductor electro-optics, who has published 40 scientific papers and holds 30 US patents. The company will soon launch its first two 3D printers. It is a compact, professional system with a single laser beam configuration and a larger 3D printer with four laser beams.

Both of 3DM's 3D printers are based on proprietary QCL technology and an open materials platform, which means they can print on . In addition, 3DM's new systems should offer users other advantages. These include faster print speeds and higher resolutions.

3DM intends to use its solution for industrial manufacturing applications, including the mass production of plastic parts. The company is currently talking to many end users in different industries and has started working with a number of companies to gather feedback on its technology
